  Brian Arnold

  Partner & Attorney

  Brian Arnold was recently featured on Big Talk 860 AM Radio answering Family Law Questions and is an Editor on the Utah Journal of Family Law where he works closely with judges and other attorneys in developing meaningful articles for Utah Attorneys that practice family law. Brian has also recently been chosen to be an Editor on the Utah Journal of Criminal Law. Brian is a native of Utah. He attended Weber State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English. His favorite author is Tolstoy. Brian then attended Gonzaga University Law School in Spokane, Washington. While there Brian worked in the Legal Clinic in the Environmental Law section.Brian was also a member of the Moot Court for two years while attending law school at Gonzaga University. During law school Brian also worked for Maxey Law Offices and assisted on numerous Criminal and Family Law cases. Brian has defended criminal cases that involve serious crimes including 1st Degree Felonies. Brian also practices in the areas of Divorce, General Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Criminal Defense. Brian is a proud member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (UACDL), and he is currently serving on the UACDL Board of Directors as the Northern Utah representative. Brian enjoys spending time with his three boys and wife in his free time, and enjoys golfing in the summer and skiing in the winter.

  Matt Wadsworth

  Partner & Attorney

  Matt Wadsworth earned his Bachelor’s from the University of Utah in Economics where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. Matt earned his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he graduated in the top third of his class and earned the Cali Award in Real Estate Finance and Development and the top grade in Land Use and Development. Primary Practice: Although, Matt has an extensive history in civil litigation and real estate transaction areas, his current primary focuses are in the areas of Family Law, Divorce, Child Support and Alimony. With over 400 hours of family law related trial experience he is very knowledgeable as to all family law related matters from complex business valuation cases to custody battles. He also files roughly 100 bankruptcy cases per year and has extensive experience in adversary proceedings. He has been a featured author in the Utah Family Law Journal, Attorney at Law and the Utah Business Manual. He has been ranked by Super Lawyers in multiple years as well as being named as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer, Top 10 Utah Bankruptcy Attorney and Top 10 Family Law Lawyer in multiple years. Matt also is a licensed Realtor in Utah and Real Estate Agent, and is the founding owner of the Wadsworth Realty Team and has a continuing affinity for real estate. Find out more at: Theattorneyrealtors.com. Background Upon admittance to the Utah State Bar Association, he was offered a position with the largest foreclosure firm in Utah, Lundberg & Associates. During this time he managed the processing of thousands of foreclosures and post foreclosure eviction files, giving him the experience and skill to handle Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins Attorneys’ expansive mortgage lending practices litigation. He is also the firm’s legislative liaison and handles its lobbying needs. Matt’s most recent legislative work with the Utah legislature was sponsoring House Bill 299 with Gage Froerer, which amended the State’s unlawful detainer statute. Matt practices in the areas of residential and commercial foreclosures, workouts, personal injury, real estate, title, evictions, landlord/tenant law, debt collections, and consumer law, appraisal litigation, loan fraud and bankruptcy. He has significant expertise in the Federal Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

  Deven J. Coggins

  Partner & Attorney

  Deven J. Coggins is a native of Ogden, Utah, where he excelled in athletics, earning football scholarships to Dixie College and Brigham Young University. While earning a degree in psychology at BYU, Deven worked as a counselor for the State of Utah Department of Corrections. After graduating from BYU, Deven earned his Juris Doctorate from Lewis and Clark College, Northwestern School of Law. Deven provides services in the areas of Criminal Law and DUI Defense, Divorce and Paternity Law, Custody and Visitation Law, Child Support and Child Support Modification, and Divorce Modifications.

  Lauren Schultz

  Associate

  Prior to joining Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins Attorneys, Lauren earned her Political Science degree from the University of Utah and her Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah. As a law student, Lauren received the CALI Award for Comparative Family Law and received a Pro Bono Certificate for her volunteer work with the Family Law Clinic. Lauren previously worked as a legal intern with the Legal Aid Society, Lokken & Associates, and the Guardian ad Litem’s office. Lauren is very responsive to clients and is a very talented writer. She is very aggressive in her legal writing and pleadings. Lauren currently works in the areas of family law, personal injury, and general civil litigation. Lauren’s experience includes divorces, custody matters, adoptions, juvenile issues, motor vehicle accidents, bicycle accidents, and dog bites/animal attacks. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys cycling, golf, fly fishing, and spending time with her dogs. Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins Attorneys is very excited to add her legal talents to its team.

  Jacob Cowdin

  Associate

  Jake Cowdin grew up in Utah and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State University. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, Jake moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law in 2013. Jake worked for The Aiello Law Firm for a full year during law school. Jake received a CALI Award in Business Law and managed to complete law school in two and a half years. After receiving his Juris Doctorate, Jake returned to Utah where he began working for Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins as a law clerk. Jake passed the Bar Exam and has practiced law as an attorney with Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins ever since. Jake enjoys being the courtroom, he is an excellent researcher and writer, and is a knowledgeable and aggressive advocate for his clients. Jake focuses primarily on the areas of Divorce, Paternity, Child Support, Modifications, Adoptions, Criminal Law, and DUI Defense.
