Eric Wallace Glissmeyer

Description

Dr. Glissmeyer cares for sick and injured children in the Primary Children’s Hospital Emergency Department. He attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine, graduating in 2008. He completed residency training in General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center in 2011. After fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah, he joined the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.Clinically, Dr. Glissmeyer endeavors to provide excellent care to children with both self-limited and life-threatening illness and injuries. He also hopes to educate and support, treat pain and build a relationship of trust with parents.While in medical school, Dr. Glissmeyer developed an interest in process and quality improvement and began studying the effects of care process models on care delivery and health resource utilization. While in residency, he researched a way to measure resident quality improvement education. As a fellow, he further developed his skills in system based practice and health systems via coursework in Biomedical Informatics and a fellowship with Intermountain Healthcare’s Institute for Health Care Delivery Research. His current research is focused on ski and snowboarding related trauma and the utility of laboratory testing for urinary tract infection in the infant with fever. He has also developed a diagnostic algorithm in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team of Surgeons and Radiologists at Primary Children’s Hospital to standardize the diagnosis of appendicitis. He enjoys providing care to the children of the Intermountain Region while working with the excellent students, residents, nurses, therapists, technicians, support staff, and other pediatric specialists at Primary Children’s Hospital.
