Charles L. Saltzman

Dr. Charles Saltzman is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah where he serves as the LS Peery Presidential Endowed Professor. For over two decades, Dr. Saltzman has focused on improving physical function of patients with limited mobility. His primary interests include care of patients with ankle arthritis, sports injuries of the leg, ankle and foot, and those with tendon, ligament, cartilage or bone problems of their feet. He has helped develop new methods for treatment of ankle arthritis (ankle fusion &; ankle replacement), midfoot arthritis, ankle/hindfoot arthroscopy and forefoot problems. He is a co-editor of the premier textbook in his field "Mann`s Surgery of Foot and Ankle" and associate editor of Foot and Ankle International.Dr. Saltzman currently serves the field of Orthopaedics in the United States as a Director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Past President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Immediate Past Chairman of the Managerial Board of Foot and Ankle International. His international leadership positions include Immediate Past President of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies and Past President of the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons. In 2018, Dr. Saltzman focused his clinical practice on two primary areas of great need where he has longstanding and deep expertise: 1) Adult ankle problems (ankle ligament, tendon, bone and cartilage problems) and complex foot and ankle problems of 8-21 year old patients.
